Rain on your wedding day? We always have a Plan B.

The rain came down as J&B exchanged their vows in Victoria's High Country, and it created a magical backdrop for this relaxed couple and some of the dreamiest photos I’ve ever been lucky enough to take. Dederang in the Kiewa Valley near Albury/Wodonga is some of the prettiest country you can imagine - those hills roll gently down the valley towards Mt Bogong.

The weather might not go as planned (and you can't do a thing about the weather!), but trust me, we will have a seamless Plan B in place, your day will still be amazing—and your photography will be stunningly unique. So, the rain came down and there wasn't a thing we could do about it so beautiful bride (and gal!) J. just kicked off her shoes and B. grabbed an umbrella, the guests stayed under the verandah of the family home and this magical day rolled on.

This is our wedding story - 19 years ago, chapel of love aka Albury Courthouse and then dinner with our fave peeps afterwards. It was about 4 weeks from our son Charlie arriving and I was stepping into being a step parent to the cute lil’ pink flower girl. This is how we did it. It was what worked for us. It was our day and it was perfect.

Planning a wedding isn’t just about throwing a party (OK well it is the party of a lifetime!!!) —it’s about crafting an unforgettable experience for you and your guests. Here’s where your budget typically goes:

Food & Drinks: Think of it as hosting a fancy dinner party for everyone you love.
Florals: Bouquets, centrepieces, and decor to create that picture-perfect vibe.
Venue & Styling: The backdrop of your big day, tailored to your vision.
Outfits & Styling: Making sure everyone looks and feels amazing.
…and the list goes on.....see, it adds up.....!!!!!

Behind every detail is a team of vendors working hard to bring your dream day to life, not just charging for the sake of it. I read a lot of posts on socials from couples planning a wedding and talking about an 'arm and a leg' and 'wedding tax' and to that I say - if you are planning a big event like a wedding it is time to get real. Wedding costs reflect the expertise, labour, and creativity that make the magic happen on the list of must haves.

If you don't have a big budget (aaaaaand you don't have to have a big budget for a fabulous celebration!!!) - you have to cut somewhere and a good place to begin could be the guest list. Just sayin' the less people at your 'dinner party'...the more dollary doos you can have to play with in other areas.... And, even if you do have a generous wedding budget - you still have to be wise about how you spend it! Budget is different for everyone and it is relative.

So, let's get real;

Vision be real with each other about what you want.
