Fiona & Russell’s Rutherglen Wedding: A Celebration of Love and Togetherness
December 14, 2024
Fiona and Russell’s wedding day was the perfect reflection of who they are: relaxed, adventurous, and deeply connected to the people they love most. Set against the stunning backdrop of Bayandah on the Murray, with a lively reception at the Corowa Distillery, their celebration was filled with laughter, dancing, and heartfelt moments.
Their love story began in Bendigo, where a chance meeting at the local pub marked the start of countless adventures together. Whether riding bikes through the mountains or skipping pebbles along the Ovens River (where Russ later proposed!), their journey has been one of shared joy and exploration. It was only fitting that their wedding day was as personal and meaningful as their story.
To ease the pre-ceremony nerves, Fiona and Russell chose to have a first look before walking down the aisle. In a quiet moment, they saw each other for the first time on their wedding day, instantly melting away any jitters. It was a beautiful way to connect, soak in the emotions, and share a private laugh (and happy tears) before the day unfolded. This also allowed us to capture some low key portraits, giving them more time to relax and enjoy the festivities later.
Planning the perfect timeline was essential to ensuring Fiona and Russell could savour every moment of their day. We worked closely together to map out their vision, balancing the must-have photos with the freedom to simply be present. From the small people doing the job of ring bearer, a must have group photo with their loved ones to candid shots with family and friends, the day felt seamless and stress-free—a true celebration, not a schedule.
Fiona’s chic white wedding gown and Russell’s classic black tie ensemble set the tone for their elegant olive green and white theme. The ceremony at Bayandah was heartfelt and intimate the girls arriving at the ceremony on a fully restored vintage flat bed truck, while the reception at the Corowa Distillery came alive with energy as their family and friends mingled and enjoyed the twilight in the gorgeous courtyard, just as they’d hoped.
Fiona and Russell’s wedding was more than a celebration of their love—it was a testament to their shared values: connection, adventure, and creating memories with the people they treasure most. Being trusted to capture those memories was a true privilege.
