Kathryn + Josh’s Joyous Wedding at Rutherglen Convent

On Saturday the 18th of November 2023, at the picturesque Rutherglen Convent – in North East Victoria, Kathryn and Josh embarked on a journey of a lifetime, celebrating their love in a wedding that was as unique and intentional as their relationship. As a wedding photographer, I had the privilege of documenting their love story on this joyous occasion, and what unfolded was a day filled with emotion, laughter, and genuine connection.

The Love Story: From Uni Days to Forever

Kathryn and Josh’s love story began eight years ago at the Australian Defence Force Academy in Canberra. Both passionate about their studies and connected through shared interests, they spent late nights at the UAV team, forging a bond that would grow into a beautiful romance. Their relationship blossomed through innocent meals, late-night conversations, and a shared sense of humor that brought them closer.

Two years ago, on a camping trip in the Hunter Valley, Josh proposed to Kathryn with a self-written song and a ruby ring from a Parisian flea market. Their love is not only witnessed by each other but also by their darling cat, Bella, their fur baby. The couple looks forward to expanding their family with the addition of a dog once they settle into a home with a proper yard.

The Wedding: A Roller Coaster of Emotions

The venue, Rutherglen Convent, provided a historic and enchanting backdrop for their celebration. Originally constructed in 1927-1928, the Convent has undergone extensive renovations, ensuring it continues to be a witness to love and community for another 90 years. The florals, beautifully crafted by Blooms by Laura Jane, added a touch of natural elegance to the day.

What stood out most about Kathryn and Josh’s wedding was the intentional focus on love—for each other, their families, and friends. The couple wanted their guests to experience a day filled with fun, connection, and a better understanding of who they are together. The emotions ran high, from tears of joy to bursts of laughter, creating a truly memorable experience.
