Jessica + Brock – Dederang Wedding
November 19, 2022
From the moment I met Jessica + Brock – as they tore up the dance floor at E + J’s Koendidda wedding waaaaaayyy back in the mid 2010’s – I loved their connection, energy and sparkle. Jess has a smile that just lights up your world when she is in it! At this stage of their lives they were getting ready for some overseas adventures, but I remember Jess saying that if they ever did get married they would be giving me a call! Fast forward to 2022 and after a crazy little thing called Covid turned their plans upside down and the birth of their beautiful little girl – it was time to say ‘I do!!!!’. Jess got in touch and we got to making plans for beautiful photography. Jess + Brock were planning a gorgeous low key wedding at Jess’s family home in Dederang followed by the bestest and funnest party at the nearby Dederang Hall with their nearest and dearest – and I was that excited to be the one to capture this for them!
I work best with easy going couples who are doing their day their way. After a timeline planning sesh over the phone to put some structure into the day and help them get the photography they wanted – I made a quick visit out to Jess’s family home in Dederang and helped them work out locations for the wedding ceremony, family photos, photos with the wedding party, wet weather location alternatives and how Jess’s Dad may have to move some of his earthmoving equipment ‘collection’ so the background was clear for photography! The week of the wedding we checked in and talked through the plans again as it looked like rain (thank you La Nina) was going to be a part of the day. On the wedding day Jess + Brock embraced the weather and were married as planned with the addition of umbrellas and the guests all tucked in around the verandah. I loved how they just went with what was in front of them – you can’t do anything about the weather!!!!! Confetti canons let off by the bridal party at the end of the ceremony – filled with gold and pink shiny confetti – were spectacular!!!!!
Dederang is in the Kiewa Valley on the road to Falls Creek and the country is undulating, green and beautiful. Dederang is surrounded by pretty hills and views. The Victorian High Country in the state’s North East is the perfect location for a wedding pretty much any time of year. This area is vast and takes in the alpine region right down to the banks of the Murray River. Gorgeous weather, big skies, clean air, natural landscapes, venues that mean you can do all your celebrating in the one place means more time for you to enjoy your guests and your party!
This couple opted for Collection 2 the 8 hour wedding coverage package and with the pre planning sesh (that I do with all my clients) we can cover from getting ready to the key parts of the reception and get the photography you want for your wedding day. Because there was such a distance between where the bride and groom were getting ready a second photographer was added. Delivering value to my clients as well as beautiful photos to be looked back on and enjoyed along the long and happy road ahead is what I am all about!
