Rutherglen Convent // Styled Shoot

Now I know you readers love a unique venue and imagery that is full of feels, insanely sophisticated styling, unique ideas and floor to ceiling floral arrangements so I wanted you to see this first!!!! Straight off the presses is a styled shoot with my vendor faves done for the newest, hottest, amazingnest venue in Rutherglen – warning it is awesome.

The owners of this incredible building are young, full of energy, have a great eye for style and service and will make sure the wedding experience for loved up couples and their people is end to end amazing and did I say that there is accommodation as well at this incredible venue….I mean if you are inviting your people from all corners of Australia (or even the world!) to come and celebrate together then this is the place! It has all the mod cons but also gives a nod (and a cheeky wink) to the history and character of this Rutherglen icon! My hometown is a 3 hour drive – only a good Spotify playlist – from Melbourne and located in North East Victoria (head up the Hume towards Albury/Wodonga and you will find us) The Rutherglen Convent is located only a short walk away from the Main Street of our charming town.

We had an awesome day – with a brilliant team of local suppliers that just have so much energy and passion for what they do – we had some help from fab metro friends Event Merchant Co. , the incredible Karen Willis Holmes, accessory goddesses Amelie George and new kids on the block Chandellier Rose (I mean that headband amiright?)!!!! We know that elopements and outfit changes are super hot atm and so we started out with a gorgeous sexy suit and then literally slipped into party mode! Florals were a celebration of fresh and pretty by our favourite Thistle & Fern who we are so excited to say are getting back into weddings and are taking new clients yay!!!! Carla dreamed up a palette of soft greens, pinks and crisp white arrangements with grapes in the arrangements, foraged figs on the plates and clusters of gorgeous local quartz tell the story of the foundations of our community – gold, agriculture and grapes – way back in the mirage that is the distant past when John Wallace shouted a drink at the bar at the Star Hotel if he could name the town after his home town in Scotland….or so the legend goes!

Gather Vintage Hire pieces included a long table in what was a sundrenched classroom, white Bentwood chairs and plush velvet pieces in rich gemstone tones. Fresh white wire funiture pieces and umbrellas out the front of the building offer a beautiful contrast of contemporary and traditional, a really amazing contrast against the red bricks of the facade and shelter from the NE Victorian sun which loves to shine pretty much every day (sorry Melbourne but it does!!!!) Your guests can stand out here and take in the view over the vineyards and wonder at our beautiful big, blue skies! Gold edged plates, sophisticated tableware and glassware from Annie at Event Merchant Co. and stunning glass candleholders finished the look perfectly. Model Dom was a dream to work with her makeup by Silken Dragonfly and hair by Jack and the Fox. Both these amazing suppliers located right here in Rutherglen and always willing to jump on board our styled shoot trains.

I am so excited to be able to work with these suppliers and use such gorgeous pieces on these styled shoots it just lifts the imagery and thus the impact of the shoot to a whole other level. Having such an energetic team of suppliers – and such a gorgeous model – that are all so willing to collaborate is a dream! For wedding suppliers in regional Victoria simply because of distance it can be difficult to access gorgeous products for shoots and I think we show your readers that you can book all your vendors from this region and save big time on those travel costs which can go toward your bar bill on your honeymoon!!!!
