Tumbarumba, spring skies, rolling hills, champagne towers, confetti, and three days of transforming the local hall into a true wonderland. ✨ So much love, thought, and care went into this wedding day — and it was magical.

Every wedding has its challenges. As photographers, we do our absolute best to anticipate and work around anything that could be thrown at us, because when we’re on, we’re on — and there’s not a lot of room for error.

Sometimes a fellow supplier gets their timing off, or works in a completely different style than you expect. Sometimes even though you are working as fast as you can the wedding party gets impatient and stops listening. Family photos can spiral out of control. Timelines can feel heavy, almost impossible to carry.

But here’s the truth: it’s an event. A glorious event!We’re dealing with humans. And humans are messy, funny, unpredictable, and wonderful. 💛

There’s always a plan A, B, and C. And my goal as a wedding photographer isn’t perfection — it’s capturing how the day feels: the joy, the love, the laughter, the confetti in the spring light, the champagne bubbles rising, and all the little moments that make a day yours.

Because that’s what weddings are — a celebration, in all its glorious, imperfect, unforgettable humanity. 🩷

Back in 2016, Pinterest was just a toddler with over 100 million monthly active users (today it’s 600 million!). Wedding inspiration came from blogs, magazines, and Instagram. There was a new wave of candid, natural wedding photographers emerging, and I had one simple goal: to be one of the leading wedding photographers in North East Victoria.

That goal started with chasing real moments, authentic celebrations, and couples doing things their way. Every backyard wedding, every unique celebration, every heartfelt moment I captured, every like minded wedding supplier that I was lucky enough to meet and work with reinforced why I love this job so much.

Nearly a decade later, that focus hasn’t changed. I’m still here for the weddings that are full of heart, personality, and joy — the ones that aren’t cookie-cutter. And I wouldn’t have it any other way. ✨

I’m loving going back through the archives and seeing the weddings I photographed when I was just starting out on this journey. I was pushing myself hard, loving the adventure and learning so much.

This one is from March 2016 — K & B’s ultimate backyard wedding in Yackandandah. Precious people (and pups!), a taco bar, bunting, lights, colour, love, and pure fun. 🌿✨

It was their day, their way — heartfelt, thoughtful, and full of personality. I absolutely loved photographing it and capturing all the little moments that made it so special.

Most of the time over the last 10 years I have spent time and energy moving forward and learning, growing and learning some more. With this momentum - aside from big picture yearly planning and goal setting - I have not spent a whole lot of time reflecting and so, I am really enjoying putting this "still makes me smile series" together.

Here’s where it all began for me…there is a bit more to this story that I will share but I have to trawl through my archives to tell it so hang in there and I will share it soon!!!!

It is May 2014 and I’d just come back from a wedding photography workshop, my world totally changed, I was totally inspired by the people I had done the workshop with and absolutely certain that this was what I wanted to do. I drove straight into town, pulled up at my friend’s florist shop and said, “I’d love for us to do a styled shoot at the Cornishtown Hall…”

I loved her heart, her style, her floristry, and I knew I needed to build local connections — and content — to show what I could do. The little country hall up the road from where I was living felt like the perfect place to start.

We rounded up a team — a stylist, hair and makeup, models, furniture hire, outfits, props — booked the hall, had a few meetings, set some goals but mostly flew by the seat of our pants and away we went. That shoot helped me find my feet.

By 2015, I had nine weddings booked.

There’s so much I could tell that girl back then… but she always had to do things in her own way, in her own time. I was a self-taught photographer and a self-taught business owner. Was I a little bit crazy? Yes, probably. Was I trying to prove something to myself? Also probably yes.

But underneath all of that was something really simple — a desire to offer couples a natural, candid, honest style of photography and a seamless experience for their wedding day.

To create for each couple beautiful images that would be enjoyed for many years — and generations — to come.

Because that’s always been the heart of it.

If we’re being really honest about what makes pe

If we’re being really honest about what makes perfect wedding photography… it’s not a secret filter or a fancy lens — it’s good communication, realistic expectations, and everyone coming to the party (literally and figuratively).

It’s when your wedding party gets around you — not just to hold your bouquet or crack a joke — but to be present and help make the day flow. I’m all for a laugh and a bit of fun (you know I’ll get you back to the party ASAP!) but if people are giving me grief for doing my job, they’re actually being disrespectful to you — the couple who invited them to stand beside them.

The truth is, photography works best when everyone’s on the same team — from your bridal party to your family to the other vendors. When everyone’s professional and we work together, you get the most out of every moment.

After a decade of doing this, I’ve learned that "joy really is the best filter of all." ✨

A summer garden party that could’ve doubled as a movie set. ✨

Erika & Joel said I do on the lawns of Koendidda Homestead — all heritage charm, big trees, and that soft country light that photographers lose their minds over. Then, as the sun dipped, the whole place turned into a glittering garden party under the stars and festoon lights.

It was one of those nights that felt easy and electric at the same time — champagne flowing, shoes off, big hugs, louder laughs.

2015 feels like a lifetime ago, but this one? Still has my heart.

✨ Goodbye Weddings, Hello New Adventures ✨

From the end of 2026, I’ll be closing the wedding photography chapter of my business. It’s a decision that has been a long time in the making, and not one I take lightly. Wedding photography has been part of my life for over 10 years, and what a journey it has been.

I have loved every second of it — the stories, the people, the privilege of being invited into such meaningful, memorable moments. It’s been the most incredible gift, and I am endlessly grateful to the couples who trusted me to capture their day. 💛

But life is about change and growth. Our family is moving into a new season — with our daughter finishing school, our son starting his apprenticeship, supporting my parents in their next chapter, and helping my mum who is (the most amazing) full time carer for my youngest brother Richard. It feels like the right time to step into something new.

So, what’s next? I’ll be continuing my work with small businesses over at @bygeorgephoto, leaning deeper into storytelling, travel, and lifestyle photography....helping the wonderful Mr James out working at cellar door and whatever else comes my way...and hopefully more time with friends and family. Honestly, I don’t have all the answers yet — and that’s equal parts scary and exciting! But I believe you have to take those wobbly, brave steps toward change to open the door to new possibilities.

👉 A very important note: If you’re one of my beautiful couples getting married in 2026, nothing changes for you — I am 100% committed to you, your day, and creating the images you’ve been dreaming of. 💍✨

From a self-taught photographer who had a calling to do wedding photography, quit her job, jumped headfirst off a cliff into the unknown, and built her wings on the way down… to now, someone looking forward to a new chapter with gratitude, curiosity, and courage — thank you for being part of this wild, wonderful ride.
