Anna + James : : Tamworth Wedding

Anna + James had a wedding day that was so full of heart and soul with a good dose of larrakin thrown in. Anna organised the day in brilliant fashion with help from her super organised and fun loving bride tribe. Everyone pitched in to help pull the day together and Anna's Mum made - yes, you read it right, made - balsamic vinegar that was bottled and given as a gift for every guest. The speeches were filled with warmth and sincerity and Anna's Dad stole the show with his cheeky mix of 21st and wedding speech and bridesmaid Ali told some travel stories that had the room in stitches.

The reception was held at Goonoo Goonoo Station (pronounced Gunna-Gunnoo) located about 20km out of Tamworth and is nestled in some of the most beautiful country you can imagine with open pasture and rolling hills in the distance. Click here for a recent article about this incredible restoration. You cannot beat an Australian country wedding and this one was just all kinds of amazing.

Mirandah + Sam : : Rutherglen Wedding

Congratulations to Mirandah + Sam who celebrated their wedding on Saturday at St Leonard's vineyard on Saturday. The pair, originally from Victoria, currently live and work interstate but with family in the area North East Victoria was decided as the perfect destination for their wedding day. St Leonard's Vineyard was chosen for because of it's picturesque position right near the Murray River, laid back rustic vibe, great food and wine. The ceremony was held on the banks of the river and family and friends from all over Australia helped the couple celebrate their day in great style and with lots of love and humour and a large helping of 'larrikin' (which is my fave sort of party!)

Boats for Hugo : : Mount Beauty

A farewell for a little boy who passed away on Christmas Eve 2015. A most touching and beautiful tribute. My heart is broken for this family who walked through this with exceptional grace and dignity. At the tribute there were 300 people to release paper boats into the river. Not a word was spoken. There was not a dry eye. When it counts people can be very good and very kind.

A Trip To Byron Bay

After a busy start to the 2016 wedding season and getting through the seemingly endless editing pile July was a great time to go away to Byron Bay and do some researching and recharging. I am always on the lookout for activities to build my knowledge about weddings and photography so it seemed like a good idea to take a trip tothe  Byron Bay Wedding Fair , with a couple of my favourite people, and have a look at how the second busiest location in Australia for destination weddings does it. It turns out that they do it with great style!

There was so much to see and do and so many people to meet - here is our trip in brief. We ventured around the venues and took in the sights. Just between you and I it was great to visit the wedding suppliers at the fair and see that my travelling companions and I (Rutherglen Florist and Gather Vintage Hire) are right on track when it comes to wedding style! We were absolutely wowed by the venues such as The Grove, Forget Me Not, Horizon, Earthhouse, Secret Garden and Byronview Farm. We were terrified into giggling fits as Carla bravely negotiated our rental car through the little skinny, winding, potholed, jungle fringed goat tracks that we had to travel on to get from venue to venue. We got to meet the divine girls Mel and Amy from Wedshed. There were really thoughtful activities to take part in such as a flower crown making workshop with Poppy and Fern Flowers and breakfast (with Bloody Mary's) at Secret Garden. We met Kelley of Bower Botanicals and fell in love with Sperry Tents and Naked Tipi's. There seemed to be Kombi vans everywhere - one was a photobooth. We got fantastically, ridiculously sidetracked at Newrybar and Bangalow. We went to the pub every day for a little relax in the beer garden and lunched multiple times at The Roadhouse. All in all it was a top trip away and very inspiring!

High Country Harvest - Heritage and New Breed Feast

As you may know, as well as running a photography business I also help my husband Ricky with our boutique winery! Last year, whilst I was wearing my James and Co. wines hat (I find it can be worn at quite a jaunty angle....) I was asked if I would like to do an event for the High Country Harvest. This event runs in the High Country in May and celebrates the rich and varied food and wine culture across our region. Being the type of person that I am I said yes pretty much straight away and then went away to work out the details!!! I have a background in hospitality and events and so I was feeling reasonably confident that I could pull something together and I really wanted to collaborate with my favourite peeps and put on an event that would be engaging and fun for our guests and with the hospitality and charm dial turned to full power. I am grateful each day for the life we have living in this region - it is a beautiful part of the world and country life is really nice and I wanted to share some of that with our guests.

We teamed up with Farrah + Andrea of Andiamo and Simon Killeen of Simao and Co. Wines. Being a mix of new breed wine and food businesses in a region steeped in history we came up with the 'Heritage and New Breed Feast' and on Saturday 21st May we put on an afternoon of sipping, feasting and learning at Chiltern’s historic Star Stables. Our guests feasted on five courses including succulent heritage breed Greta Valley Pork, spit-roasted to perfection, and other foraged and wild morsels prepared by Pinchos Catering. Plus guests got to choose from two workshops: “New Breed – wine tasting with Simon Killeen of Simao & Co and Ricky James of James & Co. Wines” or “Shoot Your Lunch – visual storytelling with Georgie James and Brenda Pomponio from 13 Acres" We had the only event with a photography workshop!!!! I told you I am always thinking about photography in one way or another!

Below is a gallery of images from the day. My dashing husband is the one in the blue checked shirt holding a glass and sporting the impressive sideburns (The resident cat is called 'Penny' and she insisted on being involved in the workshop and keeping us company!)

Big, huge, fabulous thanks to all our guests and those that trusted the vision and came together on the day and our friends at Rutherglen Florist and Gather Vintage Hire - we love, love, love how your expertise added such magic to this space!

Real Wedding - Erika + Joel

Whether it be big or small - so much work goes into a wedding when a couple decide to marry as well as thought, time, love and care. So much work also goes into wedding photography. If you are thinking wedding photographers turn up with a camera and just take some snaps you could be mistaken - it is so much more than that. I love weddings. They are joyous days, beautiful, fun and emotional that have a photographer on the go and on their toes from the time of the booking, from start to finish on the wedding day and then, there is the editing........to the preparation and delivery of images!!!!

To have the opportunity to read feedback about the experience from the point of view of the couples I work with on their wedding day is wonderful. This review recently came through from Erika + Joel - "You were fun!! We loved being able to be ourselves and have a laugh! It really felt as though you were one of the wedding guests!!! Would we recommend you to friends?! We would say to them, "DO IT! You won't regret it!!!""
