As you may know, as well as running a photography business I also help my husband Ricky with our boutique winery! Last year, whilst I was wearing my James and Co. wines hat (I find it can be worn at quite a jaunty angle....) I was asked if I would like to do an event for the High Country Harvest. This event runs in the High Country in May and celebrates the rich and varied food and wine culture across our region. Being the type of person that I am I said yes pretty much straight away and then went away to work out the details!!! I have a background in hospitality and events and so I was feeling reasonably confident that I could pull something together and I really wanted to collaborate with my favourite peeps and put on an event that would be engaging and fun for our guests and with the hospitality and charm dial turned to full power. I am grateful each day for the life we have living in this region - it is a beautiful part of the world and country life is really nice and I wanted to share some of that with our guests.
We teamed up with Farrah + Andrea of Andiamo and Simon Killeen of Simao and Co. Wines. Being a mix of new breed wine and food businesses in a region steeped in history we came up with the 'Heritage and New Breed Feast' and on Saturday 21st May we put on an afternoon of sipping, feasting and learning at Chiltern’s historic Star Stables. Our guests feasted on five courses including succulent heritage breed Greta Valley Pork, spit-roasted to perfection, and other foraged and wild morsels prepared by Pinchos Catering. Plus guests got to choose from two workshops: “New Breed – wine tasting with Simon Killeen of Simao & Co and Ricky James of James & Co. Wines” or “Shoot Your Lunch – visual storytelling with Georgie James and Brenda Pomponio from 13 Acres" We had the only event with a photography workshop!!!! I told you I am always thinking about photography in one way or another!
Below is a gallery of images from the day. My dashing husband is the one in the blue checked shirt holding a glass and sporting the impressive sideburns (The resident cat is called 'Penny' and she insisted on being involved in the workshop and keeping us company!)
Big, huge, fabulous thanks to all our guests and those that trusted the vision and came together on the day and our friends at Rutherglen Florist and Gather Vintage Hire - we love, love, love how your expertise added such magic to this space!
